About The Hundred Dollar Business
The Hundred Dollar Business mission is “Make business simple and accessible.” Our projects are designed to provide hands on, experiential learning opportunities that apply, test, and reinforce core business concepts.
The first project was started in 2006, after observing the difficulties that even venture-backed companies face in creating a successful business, yet on the same vein, seeing how easy it is to start a business on any level.
Why is business so difficult? The assumption behind the HDB is that business can be a lot more simple and manageable if it’s distilled down to the core on a constant basis.
We test business concepts on a constrained budget, timetable, and lowered expectations to extract these core concepts and make them available to entrepreneurs whose projects are more complex, yet when core principles are actively applied, can become easier to navigate towards success.
Thus far, we have completed 4 projects, and are actively working on the 5th, CoffeeWithAnExpert.com.
Project #5: Coffee With An Expert
Coffee With An Expert creates products and services that mirror the informal offline coffeeshop startup community, so that entrepreneurs can more easily find hidden startup resources in their communities
Our first two services are Ask An Expert and Coffee Clinic. Ask An Expert is available online to anyone, and Coffee Clinics are currently available to entrepreneurs in Seattle and Portland.
Project #4: Cozy Home Spa
Who doesn’t love going to the spa? But because it’s so expensive, we don’t go often– even though natural products and a relaxing environment are one of the best ways to slow down and rejuvenate from the fast-paced life we all experience.
Project #3: Human Census, June 24-November 24, 2007
30 days of asking the world insignificant & significant questions, to learn more about marketing techniques, market analysis, and community-building. Read more here.
Project #2: The Entrepreneur Story, Feb. 12-December 26, 2007
30 days to compile 100 entrepreneurs’ stories of how they got started, edited and published in a book, sell and ship to 100 customers. Read more in our Archives, starting with February 5, 2007.
Project #1: The Original Hundred Dollar Business/Mall Kiosk, Dec. 1-31, 2006
