Human Census started on June 24, 2007– here’s an introduction to the project.

The basic concept was having a site that focused exclusively on a daily question to find out what people think about various topics, and to see how many of the world’s 6 billion people we could reach.

30 days later, the project’s trial period ended, and I detailed the time, cost, and things learned. Here is a quick statistical look at the project:

Current Status on the Project

The first 30 days, we had a question every day, 7 days a week. After the initial trial period, we moved to Mon-Fri questions 5 days/week (so I could have weekends again!).

Since June 24th, we’ve only missed one day of a scheduled question. (I’m not sure anyone would know that except for me, but hey!)

It’s fun to look back and see 16.5 weeks (116 days!) of continuity, especially for a Hundred Dollar Business Project, which usually are deliberately very quick, intense, short-lived projects.

Where We’re Going

We will be hitting our first huge milestone of 100 questions asked & answered on October 30th of this month. It’s exciting! (You can find a list of questions we’ve asked so far or browse all the questions and comments individually.)

If you have any ideas for how we can commemorate that benchmark, please share! :)

As far as long-term goals, the project is scheduled to end June 24, 2008, one year from its start. That was a suggestion from one of the readers, that it be patterned after The Ze Frank Show’s deliberate 1-year only experiment.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to post questions! So if you’re in the neighborhood, feel free to drop by www.humancensus.com and catch today’s question.
