Another route is have your domain hosted through dreamhost.net, and then use their ‘one-click installs’ feature which makes the whole thing even more super easy. They also have one click upgrading when a new WP comes out and lots of other goodies….

@ryan– would that be a nerd, or a geek? i’ve heard there’s a substantial difference. besides, DIY geekery is more fun than racking up favors from geek friends.

@michael– a great suggestion. the sad thing is, i want to install it myself…
but i think if i get too frustrated, dreamhost may be a good option as well.
